Politicians took to Twitter to express their opinions on the exit polls released at the beginning of the evening.
Nottinghamshire East candidate Chris Leslie took the I told you so approach to his social media and told followers that he had warned the Labour party a Conservative majority would happen and that he had tried to prevent the “hard-left self indulgence” within the party.
Former MP for Ashfield, Gloria De Piero, criticised her party on Twitter and expressed concerns that they had “failed to recognise that people who voted leave deserved to have their voices heard”.
Famous pro-brexiteer and leader of UKIP Nigel Farage took great delight in the expected Conservative victory and claimed that his party “hugely helped” in the process.
Shockingly, it has been reported that long-standing MP for Broxtowe Anna Soubry is predicted to loose her seat, along with her election deposit.
